Icemile's Month Of Showing
RUBIS, RUBISS and new Australian Champion
The past month has been a whirlwind for our kennel to say the least.
After dumping coat and gaining a little, we decided it was time to get
Viking into the show ring just for some well needed practice. Well, what
a great practice session it turned out to be. In only his second weekend
of showing, Viking was awarded back-to-back Best in Group (Group 1) awards
on consecutive days. He followed up on one of those days being awarded
Runner Up Best in Show at Morisset and District Kennel Club. He did
this at the age of 17 months from the junior class. We were so proud of his huge win.
A few weekends and best of breeds later, we were excited about our upcoming
specialty show, which was run by the Alaskan Malamute Club of NSW. We were
not only excited about the show itself, but also about being judged by the
renowned Mrs Nancy Russel. Nancy is affectionately known
as the grand-dam of Alaskan Malamutes, and is one of the most passionate and
knowledgeable persons in the world when it comes to Malamutes. Viking
was awarded dog challenge and Runner Up Best in Specialty Show. To top
off such a great day Viking ventured home his Australian Championship.
We were so thrilled with this win, and we would like to thank Nancy Russel
for this prestigious award, as it truly was an honour.
